About

Janvic Mateo, 24, is a graduate student of development communication. He has an undergraduate speech communication degree, and is currently working as a reporter for The Philippine Star.

He moonlights as a zombie hunter and is Dumbledore’s man through and through. He’s a Shurt’ugal, and the current Abhorsen-In-Waiting.

A frustrated lawyer and accountant, Janvic is undisputedly the hottest journalist in town. He is currently assigned to cover the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, the University of the Philippines, the Commission on Human Rights, the Presidential Commission on Good Government, the Court of Tax Appeals, and the cases filed in Quezon City courts.

He also covers what he calls the online beat, hence the blog title.

The Online Beat is Janvic’s second third latest attempt at blogging. This blog should have been a platform for the author’s thoughts on issues that he think are worthy for public discussion. Instead, it became a repository of his select articles published in The Philippine Star. He is also using this blog for academic purposes.

The original vision remains a vision. But hopefully, not for long.
